It seems that everyday lately there is a drug bust in our area.  Wednesday, a meth bust worth over a million dollars was made and neighbors are shocked.

Wednesday, police issued a warrant for a home on Shreveport Drive, right near City View, and what they found shocked everyone, especially the neighbors.  Thirty-eight pounds of meth, paraphernalia and a handgun was what was recovered.  The street value of the meth was over a million dollars.

Police arrested 26 year old Jose Angel Canas.

What's even worse about the whole situation is that the house was just steps away from City View Elementary.  There is no telling if any of the kids were exposed to this harmful drug.

According to Sgt. Brent Barbee, most people are under the misconception that drugs are only sold in the stereotypical drug houses.  When the fact is that it can be in any neighborhood in the Panhandle.

While it can happen in any neighborhood, there are some things you can be on the lookout for: like frequent short term visitors, odd odors, and hand to hand exchanges.  And if you suspect anything, it's best to contact the police.  Better safe than sorry.
