We find ourselves mourning the closure of an Amarillo business that has been open since 1956.

Back on April 1, 1956, Vess Barnes, Jr. opened Barnes Jewelry in Wolflin Village.  Back in that day, stores like T.G.&Y, and Colbert's were also in the area.  Vess Barnes III took over his father's business.  In 2006 Barnes Jewelry moved into its new location, which is its currently location at 100 Westgate Parkway.

Vess Barnes began planning his retirement from the jewelry business.  In 2015 Vess Barnes moved to Dallas, and left his General Manager, Don Adams, in charge of the operation of the store, and eventually in November 2018, Adams purchased the store from Vess Barnes and left the name the same.

Back when Vess was retiring, some thought that was the end of Barnes Jewelry, and it wasn't the tradition of Barnes Jewelry continued.  Adams has run the jewelry store with integrity since he became the owner.

After 67 years of business, Barnes Jewelry will be closing its doors.

Due to unforeseen health reasons Don Adams, the current owner, is retiring and closing the doors.  The entire store is on sale and you can find great deals up to 50-70% off.  The display cases are also for sale. As for the final day is has not been announced.  Go and take advantage of the great deals as we enter this holiday season as they begin to liquidate their inventory.  Let Don and the crew know how much they will be missed.

This longtime-running jewelry store has helped many Amarilloians celebrate milestones including, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, and just because, it will be truly missed.
