When Blake Shelton scooped up the award for Country Artist of 2018 at the annual People's Choice Awards Sunday (Nov. 11), it was no surprise his girlfriend Gwen Stefani would get excited and lay a smooch on him. However, the singer and coach for The Voice got more than he bargained for, when Voice host Carson Daly couldn't resist joining in on the lovefest.

Daly and Stefani made a Shelton sandwich when his name was called, resulting in some pretty hilarious photo ops. Shelton, once untangled however, took the opportunity to be serious, pointing out the pin he was wearing in remembrance of Veterans' Day. "I'm wearing this in honor of my dad who's a veteran," he noted. "Thank you to all the veterans out there."

He also shared some love for the fans who voted him into the designation. "I will tell you, the longer I do this, the more credibility I give fan-voted awards," he said, adding that he plans to display the award in his Ole Red bar in hometown Tishomingo, Okla. "Come down, look at my award, I will buy you a beer," he invited.

Shelton squared off against popular country artists Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Thomas Rhett to win the fan-voted award—one of a variety measuring up favorites in TV, film, music and influencer categories. His wildly popular reality show, The Voice, also won in the Competition Show slot.

The 2018 People's Choice Awards were held in Los Angeles on Veteran's Day (Nov. 11).
