Brett Eldredge's a cappella rendition of "The First Noel" will give you chills this holiday season, with his haunting spin on a holiday classic allowing his voice to shine.

The country star takes the video for the song inside a church, following three different people — a young man, an older woman and a mother and her daughter — as they make their way inside. While each light a candle inside the empty hall, Eldredge's stunning vocals pour out as he sings, "They looked up and saw a star / Shining in the East beyond them far / And to the earth it gave great light / And so it continued both day and night." Eldredge demonstrates exceptional purity with his version of the traditional Christmas song, captivating listeners with his range and unique sound.

"We set up a microphone in this beautiful, historic church, and, as some of my closest team and friends sat in the pews, I sang the song a cappella, with words echoing up and down the halls. It was truly a magical experience and one the rawest performances I’ve ever been a part of," he tells Esquire about the video. "We wanted to show how we are all going through life searching for peace. And the [simple] message of this song can bring us all together, in one place."

Eldredge included his a cappella rendition of "The First Noel" on his 2016 holiday album Glow, along with a standard cover of the track. He released a deluxe edition of the project in 2018, adding five new songs including "Silver Bells," "A Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Do You Hear What I Hear?" He'll round out 2018 with a handful dates on his Christmas tour, A Night of Holiday Hits, and he also performed as part of the CMA Country Christmas special on Monday (Dec. 10).
