One of the crazy things over the holiday season is traveling.  While some people are lucky and live in the same area as their family and friends; others have to travel far distances.  Whether that be by car or by plane, they will still have to leave their home to go somewhere else to celebrate the holidays.

More people than not will have to travel.  This holiday season, prepare yourself for the most traveled season since before the pandemic. The pandemic caused a halt in travel, and it has been slowly recovering over the past four years. This year, we’ll see record travel numbers not seen since 2019.

People Have to Travel

Texans will be flooding the airports and the roadways of the Lone Star State trying to get to their travel destinations.  AAA Texas estimates that 9.1 million Texans are traveling somewhere this holiday season.  We're talking 8.5 million people on the road, 413,000 in the skies, and 268,000 using other forms of transportation.

You’ll need to pack your patience this year:

  • Airports will be packed
  • Roads will be busy
  • Businesses, restaurants, and rest stops on the road will be busy.
  • People will be tired and grumpy
  • Flights will get delayed and cancelled
  • People will have road rage
If you're traveling by plane, make sure to pack light, arrive at the airport early, and be prepared for delays.

If you're traveling by car, drive the speed limit, avoid drinking and driving, don’t text and drive, and get to your destination safely.

It's how you handle the stress that will make your travel more pleasant. You may have to give a lot of grace this year.

This is the season of joy, don't let the travel grumpies get you down.
