Five Things I’m Thankful For In Amarillo This Year
There are a lot of things we complain about all year long. Construction is the probably the biggest complaint I hear. That doesn't mean, however, that there isn't anything to be thankful for.
Here is a quick 5 things that I'm thankful for in Amarillo for this Thanksgiving.
- 1
There Was No Zombie Apocalypse
Earlier this year there was an "incident" at Pantex, yet here we are. Another year and no apocalypse, and I believe that is something to be thankful for.

We Have An Official Name For Our Baseball Team
This is the story that won't stop giving. Honestly at this point, who cares what the name is? The "anger" would have been the same had any name been given. We could be the "Amarillo Gods of Baseball" and people would still complain. I'm thankful because this has given me laughter and joy watching people pretend that this somehow is going to destroy their life. If the words sod and poodles contain that much power, you were in a tight spot to begin with.

Amarillo's Uber Drivers
I was on foot patrol for a while and decided that taking an Uber everywhere was the way to go. I found that Amarillo has the most interesting Uber community on the planet. The drivers are all characters in their own right, and their stories are better than any tall tale about Pecos Bill. Take an Uber sometime and strike up a conversation. You won't be disappointed.

The Food In Amarillo
The only thing we have more of than construction projects in this city is restaurants, and man do we have a great selection. I have broadened my horizons when it comes to cuisine. We have dishes from all over the world available right here. Plus with the all of the available delivery services, I don't have to change out of my pajamas to indulge.

The People
Let's get sappy. My eyes rolled too, don't worry. But it's true. When you stop and just take an objective look at Amarillo, it's an incredible place. Everyone has a story worth being told, and for the most part, everyone is kind once you get them to open up a bit. I've met so many wonderful people this year, and I'm thankful for how that has impacted me in such a positive way.
