Here’s Your Guide for Convenience Stores in Amarillo
Amarillo has a lot of convenience stores. Of course, you can find one on just about every corner.
So here's a quick guide on convenience stores in Amarillo.
Pak-A-Sak
The first Pak-a-Sak was opened in Canyon in 1973. They currently have 23 locations in the Texas Panhandle and 2 in Lubbock. Yes, they have made their way into the Hub City. Pak-A-Sak introduced drive-thru service at some of its stores in 2008.
Toot n' Totum
This is the convenience store in Amarillo where people have a love/hate relationship. You either love TnT or you hate them. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground. The first Toot n' Totum was opened in 1950 at the corner of 15th and Washington and is owned by the Mitchell family. Toot n' Totum currently has over 100 stores, most of those are in the Texas Panhandle however you can find TnT's in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Yes, they have made their way into Lubbock as well. Amarillo recently saw their first Toot n' Totum truck stop. They are on a mission to take over the world.
CEFCO
CEFCO is a national chain that got its start in Texas, however, you can find CEFCOs all over the southern US. They are in most towns in the Texas Panhandle.
Allsup's
Although there hasn't been an Allsup's in Amarillo (until recently, but it's a Yesway not a true Allsup's) they are all over the Texas Panhandle in small towns. Allsup's was a New Mexican convenience store, but they are the heart of our small towns. Two words. Allsup's Burritos. This is the main reason to stop in Allsup's, and make sure you have it with mustard. Trust me it's good.
Loves Travel Stop
Love's is a great stop when you're traveling, they have over 500 stores in 41 different states. They have 3 located in Amarillo.
Coming Soon
Circle K
Amarillo used to have Circle Ks back in the 80s but they disappeared. However, they are coming back to the city. Amarillo is getting at least 3 new stores, Farmer's Ave and Western, Arden Rd. and the New Loop, and I believe I saw a sign on South Coulter.
QuikTrip or QT
We got the official word that QT was coming to Amarillo and putting in at least 2 travel centers.
Buc-ee's
Yes, the beaver is coming to Amarillo and will be located across the street from the Travel Center. So we'll all have access to Beaver nuggets, all Buc-ee's attire and their BBQ, Kolaches, fudge, beef jerky, and the massive bathrooms.
So what about 7-11. Will Amarillo ever see a 7-11 again? Maybe? But highly unlikely. Here's the history of 7-11 in Amarillo.
