While our Sod Poodles won't be playing ball this year, the good news is that there will be baseball to enjoy at Hodgetown. The Texas Collegiate League series has begun and fan safety is a top priority for everyone who walks through the gates of the stadium. The Sod Poodles organization and the staff at Hodgetown have put a Covid-19 Readiness Plan in place that ensures everyone's safety while allowing fans to enjoy their baseball experience.

Amarillo Sod Poodles president and general manager Tony Ensor spoke with our partners at ABC 7 KVII on the plans in place:

“We’ve created a system here, we’ve worked really closely with our local health officials to create a plan that we know will provide fans a great atmosphere for baseball games."

The plan outlines that the maximum capacity of the stadium will be reduced to 3,000 people, rather than the usual 7,300. All employees at the ballpark will be wearing masks. When it comes to concessions, lines will be set up with social distancing in mind and crews will be doing upgraded cleaning procedures. That includes a cleaning crew that will go over and disinfect the whole stadium after every game.

The facility is also widening the lines at the entry gates to help create social distancing between fans.

“We'll have the gates open for entry and for egress and outbound traffic," said Ensor. "We do ask people to not gather in groups of larger than six in the concourse area. Obviously the ball park is set up for social distancing seating. We ask that people respect and honor the protocols of our state, local and federal health officials.”

Although not mandatory, fans are encouraged to wear masks while in Hodgetown. To keep the spread of germs down, fans are also asked to use credit cards instead of cash for parking, tickets, concessions and merchandise.
