It was a dark and crisp night on January 22nd. It was 7:19pm and I was driving back to the station after a long day of broadcasting. I just turned off 10th street and was heading south on Pierce street. Up ahead  I could see Pronews 7's building and the what was for a short time, a green light. As I approached the light it began to transform into yellow. I said to myself, "I can make this."

I was the only vehicle on the street. No one else was going south, no one was coming from the west down 11th. I was in the clear. So I increased the pressure on the accelerator and sped up the Kat Truck. I said to the Kat mobile, "We've got this." It replied with an engine purr.

Only 10 feet away from the light line I was feeling confident. I put a little more pressure on the accelerator as I crossed the line. Then as I was in the middle of 11th and Pierce;  LIGHTS!

Bright blinding light exploding from all angles, flashing and popping as I drove. I thought to myself, "Are the paparazzi documenting my travels?!?"

Then I came to the realization of why lights would be flashing as I drove underneath a traffic light. I realized that I should have stopped at the light instead of rushing past it. I had been caught by the traffic light camera at 11th & Peirce.

So remember, don't run red lights. And if you want to catch a Kat, let me drive.
