It seems never ending road construction is the normal way of life here in Bomb City. If Bell Street happens to be a part of your daily commute you already know the pain that I'm about to speak of. If not... well, let me fill you in:

Construction has been a way of life since November of last year for the stretch of southbound lanes between Bell and I-40. According to the city who put out a release last year the project was intended to relocate main sewer lines.

It's a daily cluster with traffic backing up over the I-40 Overpass to at least plains and sometimes it's worse. And of course there's the awkward merge that if you don't make early basically dooms you to turning off making you detour. Yeah... I'm done with it.

The project was only scheduled for two months and was supposed to be completed in January and naturally like everything else in town construction and weather delays are the norm but, you might have noticed that progress is definitely being made. New sidewalks and manhole covers seem to bring hope that perhaps one day we might see less of this.

I'm ready for this to be over... What do you need me to do? I can work a shovel, a broom, a road striping machine...heck, I'll even stand out there and hold a slow down sign to help. If you need me to I can even clean up this speed limit sign and help prop it up!

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
