Dasher Diary: The Mystery of the Vanishing Party Stop Order
I had a delivery in Amarillo last week that, to this day, I do not know what happened. I was sitting waiting for an order, and one came in for Party Stop. I accepted the delivery because I was going to make about $9 for just a four-mile delivery.
The Perfect Stack: A Promising Start
I started heading toward the first pickup when a second offer popped up, a short-distance add-on for an extra four dollars. I accepted, thinking it was a perfect start to my shift. I accepted that one as well. This was turning out to be a good first delivery of the day.
I am now in front of Party Stop, and I can't find that order. It was missing. I tried to toggle back to the Party Stop order after finishing at Chick-fil-A, but it was just gone. No notification, no cancellation message, it had simply vanished. I have never seen this happen. I didn't get a notification that it was cancelled.
The Ghost Order: When the App Just Gives Up
I didn't unassign myself. There was really no reason for it to be gone. So I headed to Chick-fil-A and hoped it would be there when I picked up the order. I was hoping for some magical Party Stop return of the order. Both locations were just down the street from each other, so it didn't mess things up too badly.
I got the food from Chick-fil-A, and after I confirmed it, all it showed me was the address of where I needed to drop it off. The disappearance was a major blow because that first order was the only reason the trip was profitable.
The Reality Check: Delivering for $4 After a Glitch
This add-on order only made sense because I was already going to be in the area. I would have never accepted this order without the one from Party Stop. I wish I knew what happened. I still find myself wondering where it went. Did the customer cancel it at the last second, or was it a massive app glitch?
Did they get their order, or was it cancelled for some reason, and I was never notified? All I know is I had to deliver a pretty dumb delivery for just $4, and it wasn't worth my time or gas.
