The idea of Hawaiian food interested me. I have never had it before. I didn't know we had Aloha Kitchen opened here in the area several years ago so I missed their first run. Now that they are back I was not going to let that happen again.

So I made the trip out to Bushland recently and gave them a try. I had never been to From 6th Collective so I got to check that out as well. See what they had to offer. My main goal was to get some Hawaiian food.

I had looked at their menu and already knew I wanted to try each of the two dishes they were offering at the time. They had nachos and mac and cheese with a Hawaiian twist.

When I stopped by I did chat with the staff of course. They are very friendly. The did have the feel of Hawaii. I ordered and their prices are very reasonable. I walked out spending less than $14 for the Kalua Pork Mac and Cheese and the Kalua Pork Nachos with Green Chile sauce. Very reasonable.

Every week they are going to have different menus for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is the same right now.

You can call ahead your order or even text it if you are in a hurry. I ordered when I got there and enjoyed my conversation while waiting. It took no time for Lisa, the owner, to get my food out.

I took my food home back to Amarillo. I will admit that somehow I knocked over my bag so my nachos didn't look as pretty when I got them home. Because of that, I ended up with more chips than toppings but again that was my fault. I loved the taste of the Kalua pork and anytime you give me anything with green chile I am happy. I have never had nachos with cabbage on it but it just worked. The nachos had a great taste.

I will have to say that the mac n cheese was my favorite. It wasn't as big of a serving as I had hoped but it was really good. The mac n cheese was a corkscrew pasta and it was very creamy. Then you add that pork on top. Yep, I was a fan.

Aloha Kitchen is open Thursday through Sunday for you to try. If you follow their Facebook page you will see their weekly menu so you know what they will be offering.

So I can't wait to make a trip to Bushland so my daughter can give them a try too. Plus we will do some shopping in From 6th Collective while we are there.
