This question has been weighing on my mind a lot - What is going to happen to Amarillo's Cool Cats? If you have been living under a rock, Cool Cats is a long-standing snow cone stand.

The question first came up when I noticed that a gas station was moving in at the corner of 27th and Osage. That is where Cool Cats has been for years. So I wondered if the gas station was going to play nice or make them move.

After doing a lot of research I discovered that longtime owner Billy Wall passed away late last year. So that led to even more questions. I had no idea who to reach out to. I had no one who could ease my mind. So I just put my questions out there. I was hoping they would get to the correct person who could answer them.

They did. I received a phone call recently from Sandy Molina. She let me know that Cool Cats will go on. In fact, I had no idea that Billy sold the snow cone stand to her a couple of years ago.

Sandy's daughter had worked for Billy so it was a perfect fit. Sandy said that for the past couple of years, Billy stayed around to help out. Then his health took a turn for the worse and he had to retire.

Sandy told me that his passing is really tough because she is not going to have him around this year if she has any questions.

Wait, Cool Cats Snow Cone Stand is Missing in Action Right Now?

If you have driven by recently you may have noticed the snow cone stand is gone. Don't worry though because they are getting an upgrade. There were improvements that needed to be made according to the city. They were just a bit too much.

So a new trailer was bought. It is going to be moved into the location soon. They are hoping for sometime this week. As of now the gas station that is supposed to move in isn't in a big hurry so Cool Cats is set to open up in its normal location soon.

Long live the legacy of Cool Cats Snow Cone Stand.
