Movies At The Lake Starts This Weekend at Lake Meredith
There is no shortage of outdoor weekend movies this weekend here in the Pandhandle. There's a mystery movie going on at the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum's east lawn that you have to follow clues for to figure out whats showing. Amarillo Parks and Rec also has it's starlight cinema monthly showing. For those of you who like a good movie with a lake view I got you taken care of right here
The Fritch Fortress Amphitheater at Lake Meredith will host the event which is being run by the Friends of Lake Meredith and Alibates. The series will run through July and this weekend they kick off with the feature film Godzilla Vs. Kong which is a part of the series including Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island. This one might not be so great for littles with it's PG-13 rating. Keep that in mind if you go.
Now if you haven't been out that way before I got a quick survival guide on what you need to know about Lake Meredith. The park is very much worth the trip during the day and a good movie is the perfect way to cap it off.
The movie doesn't require any kind of registration and it's free to the public but do get there early for the best seating. Concessions are available and are being sold by the Friends of Lake Meredith and Alibates to help re-coop the costs of licensing the movie. If you do go, make sure to pick up plenty of popcorn, candy and drinks to help support them in their efforts. They also hope to use the funding to sponsor fireworks shows in the future.
