Seven Reasons Why Friendsgiving is Better Than Thanksgiving With Your Family
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks, but sometimes having Thanksgiving with family can turn into a total disaster. That's why sometimes, it's best to just celebrate Thanksgiving with your friends. It's Friendsgiving.
I have had several Friendsgivings and they are by far one of the best Thanksgivings I have ever experienced.
Here is why you should do 'Friendsgiving' instead of Thanksgiving:
Reason #1: It's not your family.
When it comes to having Thanksgiving with your family. Aunt Sue and Cousin Bobby always bring up politics and end up getting into a fight, because they are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. When you have Friendsgiving, you argue with your friends about whether the Cowboys are good or not.
Reason #2: You already know you get along with your friends.
You don't have to worry about somebody saying anything in appropriately gross at the dinner table. They usually save that for after dinner when they have had too much to drink.
Reason #3: No Mother-in-Law encounters
Your mother-in-law will not be hovering over your shoulder saying "that's not how I do it". Your friends will be amazed at your dish and if they don't like it, they'll tell you with love, not disdain.
Reason #4: You're not left to clean up alone.
When you have Thanksgiving at your house, you normally end up cooking and cleaning. You're lucky if the relatives stick around long enough to help you clean up. You're always there to help.
Reason #5: You've got a drink to enjoy, not one you 'need'
You've been sharing that bottle of wine and Fireball shots with your BFF, and you're drinking to relax and have fun. You're not drinking to drown out your family. Best of all if someone drinks too much, they can just crash in your guest bedroom.
Reason #6: It's an excuse to spend time with your friends.
'Nuff said.
Reason #7: Friends are the family you choose
Sometimes not everyone has family to spend Thanksgiving with and when you host Friendsgiving, you have a place for everyone at your table.
Let's face it, you can't pick your family but you can pick your friends. So why not spend Thanksgivng with your friends, and make Christmas the holiday you spend with your family.
