Shooting in Amarillo Starts Spring Break with A Bang

The official start of Spring Break in Amarillo was Friday, March 10th as soon as school got out, however, someone decided to party a little hard later on in the night.

The Amarillo Police Department received a call on Saturday, March 11th at around 2 am on an aggravated assault in the 1200 Block of SE 10th.   A 22-year-old male had been involved in a verbal fight with another male.  The suspect got into a silver Ford truck and ran into the victim's vehicle and left the scene.  The victim told police that he saw the suspect further down the street in the 1300 block of SE 10th and once again the suspect rammed the victim's car.  The victim also told the Amarillo Police Department that the suspect shot at him, and rammed his car again before taking off.

APD found shell casings in the area of the shooting and bullet holes in the victim's vehicle. 

Another APD officer who was patrolling the I-40 and Washington area saw a silver Ford Truck driving erratically and hitting a curb.   The officer pulled the silver Ford over.

The APD Patrol officer found that the driver was, Valentin Pacheco Moncada, a 26-year-old male who has been identified as the suspect in the shooting.

Moncada was also in possession of a firearm.  Moncada was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and was booked into the Potter County Detention Center.

No injuries were reported.
