Complete Stranger Buys Pizza Dinner for Overwhelmed, Struggling Single Mother and Family
A stranger's random act of kindness made for one family’s memorable meal.
A single mother who brought her three kids -- two of whom have special needs -- to a Pizza Hut in Durham, North Carolina was surprised when a man she didn't know sitting in a nearby booth treated them to dinner.
The woman, who didn't want to be identified because she's a victim of domestic abuse, certainly needed the boost. She's in the middle of a divorce, has a daughter with bullying tendencies, a son with Asperger's and ADHD and another child who had to leave college for a year.
By the time they got to the restaurant, her son's medication had worn off, so she made a point of walking over to a man seated by himself nearby to apologize for how her kids were going to behave.
The woman did her best to keep her kids in check and seems to have made quite the impression because after the man wrapped up his meal, a waitress and manager walked over to her table to say the man bought their dinner and gave them a gift card to the restaurant.
In addition, the man wrote the mother a letter:
I do not know your back story, but I have had the privilege of watching you parent your children for the past 30 minutes. I have to say thank you for parenting your children in such a loving manner.
I have watched you teach your children about the importance of respect, education, proper manners, communication, self-control, and kindness all while being very patient. I will never cross your path again but am positive that you and your children have amazing futures.
Keep up the good work and when it starts to get tough do not forget that others may be watching and will need the encouragement of seeing a good family being raised. God bless! -Jake"
The woman was totally blown away by the man's gesture and had a simple message for him: "I want him and his family to know that's he's awesome."
