Another Iconic Fast Food Restaurant Gone: Taco Bueno is No Mas in The Texas Panhandle

Taco Bueno was a staple in Amarillo, Texas, one on every corner.   Then they all went away and Dumas, Texas became the place to be when it came to Taco Bueno.

About a year ago, we told you that Taco Bueno had moved back into the Texas Panhandle and made its home in Dumas, Texas.   Yes, Taco Bueno was back and so were their delicious refried beans and those Mexi Dips and chips were the best.

Taco Bueno in Dumas has Closed!

We had originally heard that the restaurant had closed on one of the restaurant Facebook groups and of course, the search began to find out if it was true.  First we went to the website and did a search and the closest Taco Bueno that popped up was in Lawton and Wichita Falls.  Then off to Google only to find that red banner of death saying

Permanently Closed

The fate has been sealed and the region of Taco Bueno in Dumas is done.

Taco Bueno at one point in time had a cult following like Long John Silver's.  However, although still dearly loved, it is gone from the area once again.

Luckily, the Texas Panhandle is home to some great Mexican food restaurants that can fill that Mexican food craving.   Most of them aren't fast food restaurants but are worth the time to go in and sit down and enjoy.  Plus, we still have the GOAT of all Mexican fast-food restaurants and that is Taco Villa.

Taco Bueno opened in Amarillo in 2008 and had 3 separate locations.

There was a location on Georgia, off 45th

A location on South Coulter in front of Walmart.

I-40 and Bell.  The location on I-40 and Bell lasted the longest, but it was done sometime in 2018.

Then fast forward to 2022 and Dumas got a brand new Taco Bueno.
