For the fourth straight week, gas prices have risen, and it is starting to affect the Texan budgets. This has now become a pattern, and we are no longer looking at a spike in prices.
Texas Gas Prices Rise for Fourth Week
Although prices this week rose by 3 cents, AAA Texas says the average price this week per gallon of regular is $3.61. The U.S. average is $3.98 and will likely break the $4 mark next week.

What Drivers Are Paying Across Texas
- Amarillo remained the same at $3.27, which is the lowest in the state.
- Lubbock is down 3 cents this week at $3.28.
- Midland jumped 12 cents to $3.89, the highest.
- Tyler is up 4 cents at $3.50.
- El Paso is down 6 cents, but is still one of the highest at $3.83.
According to GasBuddy, gas prices have not been over $4 since 2022.
Diesel Prices Also Rising in Texas
The average price of diesel right now in Texas is $4.94. Amarillo's diesel prices are $4.56, while diesel in El Paso is at $5.10.
Why Gas Prices Keep Climbing
Crude oil is still sitting near $100 per barrel. The prices began to rise 4 weeks ago when the Iran conflict started. However, this is the time of year when demand starts to increase because people are getting out more due to the warmer temperatures. The demand will continue to rise the closer we get to summer.
