
Texas Gas Prices Drop for the Third Week in a Row Before July 4th
Texans are once again seeing relief at the pump as gas prices have dropped for the third week in a row. With the July 4th holiday in a few weeks, more and more people will be hitting the road. Fourth of July traffic is predicted to top last year. However, it's nice to see prices dipping as the holiday nears.
According to AAA Texas, Texans are paying on average $3.49 per gallon for regular unleaded. It's dropped another 9 cents. El Paso is still paying the most per gallon at $3.85. Surprisingly, San Antonio is the city paying the least this week at $3.28. The national average is $4 per gallon this week.
So for now, relief is here. Here's what we're paying this week.
- Amarillo: $3.46 - Last week: $3.54 - down 8 cents from last week
- Lubbock: $3.40 - Last week: $3.54 - down 14 cents from last week
- Midland: $3.41 - Last week: $3.66 - down 25 cents from last week
- Abilene: $3.46 - Last week: $3.53 - down 7 cents from last week
- Tyler: $3.45 - Last week: $3.56 - down 11 cents from last week
- El Paso: $3.85 - Last week: $3.86 - down 1 cent from last week

A quick check-in with OilPrice.com shows that Brent Oil is $79.18 per barrel while WTI is at $76.03 this week. Even with progress being made to open the Strait of Hormuz, it will take a while for the market to finally normalize.

With the 4th of July holiday weekend coming up in 3 weeks, AAA Texas predicts over 5.7 million Texans will be traveling for the holiday, and 4.9 million of those will be driving. The remaining travelers will fly and take other transportation. Holiday weekends always see gas prices jump because demand goes up.

It's nice to see those gas prices trending in the right direction, especially when so many people are struggling to make ends meet.
