It does take Millions of dollars to help keep our state parks in great condition. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has announced that it needs even more dollars to help keep the parks up and running.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Director Brent Leisure have had requested $18.9 million above the base budget to help maintain the current levels of operations in each park around our great state. Now if the TPWD don't receive the requested funds, state parks will have to face closure, including Palo Duro Canyon.

Palo Duro is the third largest state park in Texas and well their always that chance it could close down, but being a top park might save it till the park is hit with low financing. PDC's Superintendent had said that " there is maintenance issues and things that we really need to stay on top of to preserve this place". Without those extra funds who knows the fate of our state parks, all we can do is to go and visit them.
