Sports in Texas are on hold still but the regulations put forth from Governor Abbott’s COVID-19 are looking like they may ease in the coming weeks. That’s good news to sports fans all across Texas, but social distancing and other new regulations will most likely be announced as soon as May 18.

Route 66 Speedway in Amarillo is still planning their weekend practice for drivers to test the track and their vehicles Saturday from 6:30 to 10 PM. This event will be open for a limited amount of spectators. Those fans will have to adhere to social distancing and respiratory facial mask guidelines. Today I spoke with Kelsey Gossett about the Speedways exciting plans for the 2020 racing season.

Regular schedule for opening was set for April 18th however that initial date has been postponed. The plan to open the park on May 30th will depend on what Governor Abbott declares on May 18 regarding sporting events.  Once the season is allowed to start concession stands will be replaced with food-trucks.
