HBO's 'True Detective' has come and gone, and even as the reception of its first season finale "Form and Void" remains divided, fans already desire more time spent with Matthew McConaughey's Rustin Cohle and Woody Harrelson's Martin Hart. At least one of those wishes we can grant, with a brand-new 'True Detective' deleted scene that reveals how Rust broke up with his girlfriend Lori (Elizabeth Reaser) before 2012.

We only met Rust's lady love Lori in a few brief instances between 1995 and 2012, though we were given to understand by the time of Rust and Cohle's eventual reunion that the mustachioed Rust had since parted ways with the woman. Now courtesy of Extra, we have a look at exactly how that happened, and the understandable issue that Rust refused to compromise on, given his nihilistic values.

Of course, Matthew McConaughey has been exceptionally vocal that neither he nor his character would return for the all-but-assured 'True Detective' season 2, but that shouldn't stop us from hoping to see Elizabeth Reaser given a role next year, given the short shrift her character had been given here. After all, series creator Nic Pizzolatto did tell us of season 2 that we'd be seeing some "hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system."

While we wait for more news of 'True Detective' season 2, check out the deleted scene above, and tell us what you want to see from HBO's dark and dreary drama. Don't forget to check out the DVD and Blu-ray release on June 10 for more special features of the first season!
