Walmart Is Cracking Down On Customers In Texas Who Use These
No more than ever people want to save money. One way to do that is through coupons.
However, using coupons at Walmart is going to be more difficult. Back in September, Walmart changed its coupon policy.
If you're one of those die-hard couponers, you won't be saving as much at Walmart as you used to save with your coupons.
Here's Why:
Walmart is now following suit with a lot of big-name retailers when it comes to coupons. According to Coupons in the News, Walmart has made 3 big changes to its coupon policy.
The new Walmart coupon policy states, "Walmart does not give cash back nor will any overages apply to the remaining items in the transaction if the value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item, including WIC and SNAP."
This means the coupon will be applied to the item's price, and if the coupon is for more than the item that's it, any excess will not be applied to the total transaction.
"Limit of 4 identical coupons per household, per day (unless otherwise noted on coupon). There is no limit on the number of coupons (variety) that can be used in a total transaction."
For example, you have 5 coupons for a bottle of bleach. You can buy 5 bottles of bleach and use the coupons, but you can't use all 5 coupons at the same time. You can use 4 of the same coupon, but anything over that will be rejected. You'll either have to put the 5th bottle of bleach back or pay full price.
3. No More Overriding at the Register
If the coupon doesn't scan at the register, that's it, you can't use the coupon. Walmart will not accept the coupon. The person checking you out or in charge of self-checkout will not override the coupon.
"Coupons must scan at the register, as the GS1 on the coupon must validate to Walmart’s master file."
Saving money just got harder at Walmart. Walmart isn't saying you can't use coupons, they have stopped certain usage. It's possible that Walmart just put a stop to the extreme couponing where they were losing money.
