Winter Weather Moves Into Panhandle
It is no secret that it has been super cold, but get ready because more winter weather is on it's way. Are we getting snow, ice, or just more cold weather? I have all the details below.
The first round of ugliness is arriving this afternoon into the evening. We will be getting some freezing rain that is coming this way from Midland and Lubbock. Plus, our good old friend the wind will be coming in from the northwest and north at 5-15 mph. So our high of 32 degrees will feel even colder.
Then, overnight the snow will move in. The heaviest snow will be here between 9pm tonight to 6am tomorrow morning. This will result in us getting anywhere from 2-5 inches of snow! This snow storm is going to be weird, meaning that it will be heavier in some spots. There is even a possibility of areas getting thunder and lightening. (Which I would love to see) In these areas, snow accumulations will be even greater.
According to Pro News 7, the snow will stop before noon Saturday. The sun may even come out, but it is unlikely that any of the snow will melt.
With these cold temperatures, make sure you bring your pets inside and keep yourself warm. The roads are expected to be dangerous, so if you have to go out, slow down. Also, make sure you carry a charged cell phone and blanket in case you get stranded.
