August is always my favorite time of the year!  Not only is summer in full swing, but that means the XIT Rodeo and Reunion is just around the corner.

Every year, we head up to Dalhart, TX for their annual XIT Rodeo and Reunion.  This year, it will be on August 7th through the 9th and their is a ranch full of activities for the entire family.  Why hold such a huge celebration?  Here's the reason:

"Since 1936, cowboys and their families who worked on the XIT Ranch have been gathering at annual reunions to reminisce about life on the ranch. Since 1937, these reunions have been held in Dalhart."

They have since added the rodeo and free barbeque.

The events start Thursday with a kid's clown contest, Free Chicken Wing Feed, PRCA Rodeo and ends with a dance with the Rankin Twins.

On Friday, there will be an antique tractor show and pull, free pork chop feed, PRCA Rodeo and ends with William Clark Green.

On Saturday, a huge parade will kick off the day.  The parade theme is Ridin & Ropin...Prayin & Hopin.

There will then be a fiddler's contest, antique tractor show and pull, 16th annual mud bogs, World's largest FREE BBQ, Queen's coronation, PRCA Rodeo and it ends with the Casey Donahew Band!

There are other things happening here and there so for the full schedule, prices, and times go to http://xit-rodeo.com.

It is going to be a weekend full of fun so make plans to be there!
