CBS sitcom magnate Chuck Lorre may be on his fourth airing show for the network with the debut of upcoming Anna Faris sitcom 'Mom,' but that hasn't stopped the freshman comedy from flexing its muscles with casting just yet. Erstwhile 'New Girl' guest and rom-com staple Justin Long has joined the cast, along with 'The Help' Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer, but who might the duo portray?

Lorre himself revealed the news at the recent Television Critics Association press tour, adding that Long would take the role of Anna Faris' character Christy's early love interest. “That’s going to come up in the first few episodes,” Lorre said of the character. “Poor bastard doesn’t know what he’s in for, but he’s going to be her first shot for a meaningful relationship.”

Meanwhile, Spencer will take the descriptive role of “a woman who turns out to have bigger problems than Christy. So Christy gets perspective.” Unlike Long however, Spencer's role will only extend to a single episode, for now.

‘Mom’ features Anna Faris as a newly-sober single mom trying to get her life together, marking Chuck Lorre’s fourth sitcom on the network in addition to ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ ‘Two and a Half Men,’ and ‘Mike & Molly.’ In addition to Allison Janney as titular character Faris’ own mother, the ‘Mom’ cast also includes Nate Corddry, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Matt Jones (‘Breaking Bad‘), Spencer Daniels, Sadie Calvano and French Stewart.
