With drinking comes driving, Amarillo Police are counting on us to hopefully not make this connection. The department has received a grant from the state to help step up enforcement of drinking and driving around the city. Officers will be out in full force looking for drivers who might have had a little too much.

The Numbers Aren't Great

Danny Hooks

DWI stats in Texas aren't great, Every 20 minutes there's a DWI related vehicle crash somewhere in the Lone Star state. Remember here a few months back when drunks couldn't stop hitting emergency vehicles? Some of the other numbers are down right scary on the wallet too as a DWI can knock you back $20,000 bucks. It's simply not worth it.

There are plenty of rideshares here in Amarillo, which if you do need to use be nice to the driver, tip well because they are gonna have a rough weekend as is. There's also Taxi Cabs or my personal favorite the Designated Driver. If you're in that much trouble hit me up! I'd be glad to make sure you get home okay. Or even your parents but you might have to do a little bit of explaining.

Digging through old news articles, I found several separate occasions where Amarillo and America's Most Wanted crossed paths. It makes me wonder if there are some that I've missed.
