I'll admit, Fried Chicken is one of my favorite things. There's certainly no shortage of it in the Panhandle and if you are trying to avoid it like the plague, I've got some bad news for you, There's another chicken option now on Coulter. Golden Chick made it's Amarillo Debut today with a soft open and has been serving customers at a steady pace throughout the day

if you aren't familiar with the brand, they are originally based out of San Marcos, Texas and started life out as Golden Fried Chicken in 1967. By the 1970s they were the second major chicken outlet in Texas to franchise out of state (Church's was the first) They shortened the name of the chain to Golden Chick in the 1990's. They're known for their Golden Tenders but bone in chicken is certainly on the menu too not only fried but grilled too which is something that a few of the other options here in town don't offer

I made the trip out today on a tip to find a really nice staff along with trainers helping to make sure that everything was flowing smoothly and judging by the parking lot and a nearly full restaurant, They may have something here in Amarillo. Prices are on par with what you would expect and the sweet tea I ordered was just right. They do have on having a more formal grand opening ceremony within the next few weeks once all the kinks are worked out. Speaking with the management, this is their first in the city of Amarillo but not the last and more panhandle expansion is on the way.

The restaurant is located at the southwest corner of Coulter and Hillside.
