Herford Teen Struck, Killed By Discus At Track Meet: Family & Community Mourning

The family and friends of Joshua Ramirez, 15, are mourning his loss after an unthinkable accident happened during a track meet.

Ramirez was stretching on the field during his Junior Varsity track meet on March 8th in Plainview when he was struck by a discus.

The Hereford ISD athletic trainers helped Ramirez after the accident, but pain days later caused him to visit the hospital in Hereford.

He was released and asked to return to the hospital on March 13th, and that same night he was transported to the intensive care unit in Amarillo where he later died on March 17th. Doctors were unsure what could have caused his death.
