"What are these horses for?"

I asked myself that question while driving around Amarillo one day. There are countless colorful and uniquely decorated horse statues around town and I supposed when you grow up seeing them, you never give them a second thought. But it hit me that day, driving along and really looking at each horse statue I passed, that I never knew why they where there.

So, I did some quick research. I found out that they are called "Hoof Prints" and they are a community-wide public art display celebrating the history and the spirit of the American Quarter Horse.

Each horse is also sponsored by a local business and in total there are about 94 horse's. So I took pictures of the 25 that I encounter the most.
