The Don Harrington Discovery Center has become a weekend tradition for my two kids and me. Every weekend we go so they can play, learn, and burn off all that energy they have stored up. While the Discovery Center has always had neat exhibits and interesting things for the kids to do, I never expected anything like this.

The new "Time Portal" exhibit at the Discovery Center goes all out.

If you've been out to the Discovery Center at all this summer, you've noticed that they've had an area "roped off" for quite some time. The new exhibit was shrouded in mystery. All that most of us knew was that it had something to do with animal life through time.

The exhibit is now open, and it is something you have to take the kids to see.

Throughout the entire exhibit, which features several different rooms, you see these "time portals." They take you to different times throughout history, and give you an idea of what it would have been like. Not only are the rooms incredibly decorated, but they also feature displays housing animals that go along with that room's theme.

When you first step in, you're greeted with all kinds of fish. There's also a tank full of jellyfish. Yes, jellyfish in the Texas panhandle.

My three-year-old son lost his mind.

Continuing on, we saw massive toads and snakes. There's an enclosure featuring all kinds of birds that's also viewable from an upstairs reading area that is phenomenal.

This new exhibit felt like something I would have seen as a kid hanging out at the Omniplex in Oklahoma City. I don't think I've ever seen something this immersive at the Discovery Center. As an adult, I really enjoyed walking from room to room, from era to era, seeing all of the displays and taking in how well the rooms were decorated.

I can't say it enough, the DHDC outdid themselves with this one. My only problem with it is that now I'll be wanting more things like this in the future.

If you haven't been to the Discovery Center recently, go. It's well worth it.
