This Is The Number One Traffic Sin Committed In Amarillo
There are things about driving that eat at every one of us. From people who don't seem to understand what that weird little stick (blinker) coming out of their steering wheel does to those who want to take a leisurely ride in the passing lane. There's one "traffic sin," though, that seems to outdo all the rest.
Here is the number one traffic sin committed in Amarillo, Texas.
What Are The Worst Parts About Driving In Amarillo, Texas?
You see it all in Amarillo. Blinkers seem to confuse many of us. Whether it's on the highway or navigating through a residential neighborhood, you're going to come across more than one person who is living their life all willy-nilly with no regard for using their blinker.
More than once I've watched in amazement as someone is driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street. Yes, all of the one-ways around downtown can be confusing, but it doesn't take more than a couple of seconds to look around to see what's going on.
If you're on the highway around town, some feel like driving in the passing lane is a great place to take your slow leisurely drive through the panhandle. We often hear complaints about people who decide that slowing down is the best way to join the quick pace of traffic on the interstate.
Then, there are these people.
Hey Amarillo, Stop Waiting Until The Last Minute To Make A Lane Change
The problem is the lane closure. It isn't even the fact that you have to change lanes. For anyone who is paying attention, you can usually see the signs from a distance and have ample time to get over without causing any problems.
There are those among us who see the lane change as a challenge. How far can they go before they are absolutely forced to change lanes? Perhaps they are in a hurry and don't feel like slowing down to merge into traffic, so they try to zoom ahead and force their way into a place further up the line.
There is more than one spot in Amarillo that has a lane closure. At all of the ones I've seen, there's always that one person trying to force their way in at the last minute.
Please, for the love of all that is good, stop waiting until the last second to change lanes. It causes all kinds of problems, especially for those of us who got over in plenty of time. In the best-case scenario, we have to slow down abruptly in order for you to squeeze your ride in. I've seen instances where everyone has to slam on their breaks to avoid a disaster.
Traffic is all about flow, and when things are flowing we all get where we need to go without much of a disruption. When you mess with that flow, it causes problems. Please, on behalf of all of us, stop it.
