It was about two weeks ago when Hoffbrau voluntarily closed because one of their staff members tested positive for covid-19. They did the right thing. Now another Amarillo restaurant is doing the same thing.

While Hoffbrau was able to stay open using their curbside and take out options this restaurant is not. Now Jorge's - 6051 Bell Street is the next victim. They have been closed since Thursday of last week and look to reopen next Tuesday.

I applaud them too. I know of some restaurants that had a covid case and didn't close. Not in Amarillo....before you ask me. So doing the right thing is important. There is a lot about this virus that we don't know. This really is unchartered waters so kudos to Jorge's for putting the safety and health of Amarillo ahead of making a buck or two.

Yes, when I went to take a photo I watched people walk up and pull on the door handle to find out they were closed. I know it's disappointing. I love that place. Great food...yes. I can't help but love them even more now.

I would like to set the record straight. As the owner, I wanted to make the responsible, independent decision to close down to ensure the safety of my guests and staff. The exposure to the virus was minimal (less than 3 staff members) but I would rather make the investment of closing doors, sanitizing, and voluntary quarantine in order to ensure the health and safety of our community.
After careful consideration and a robust sanitizing process, we are glad to say that we will be open on TUESDAY, October 27 and we absolutely cannot wait for our valued guests to return.
Stay tuned for more updates and, as always, thank you to our Amarillo family for your continued support.
With Love, Jorge Albarran
So when they open back up next week let's all go in and thank them for looking out for us.
