If there is one thing about Amarillo, it is the selection of places to eat.  At those places to eat are some of the best-fried foods you will sink your teeth into.  Today we will focus on rings dipped in batter and fried until crispy.

There isn't an exact origin of when the onion ring was created.  Some say John Mollard had the idea of a fried onion because of his recipe for Fried Onions with Parmesan in an 1802 cookbook.  Maybe it was Crisco who published the recipe in the New York Times Magazine in 1933. No matter where they came from, they are delicious and restaurants have perfected their version of this delicious ring of fried goodness.

The onion ring is celebrated each year on National Onion Ring Day.  The day dedicated to the onion ring is June 22nd.  So we are just in time with this article.
