Some parents are outraged at the fact that 13 New York schools have now began administering the Plan B pill as well as other birth control.

School nurses are now able to administer the "Plan B" pill or other oral and injectable birth control without notifying parents. They are allowed to give these to children as young as 14 years old. To keep this from happening, parents have to opt out of the program after receiving a letter regarding the program from the school.

While some schools have given condoms to some students in the past, this is the first time that a school has ever administered the "Plan B" pill, which can prevent pregnancy if given within 72 hours of unprotected sex.

Officials have stated this is in response to 7,000 underage pregnancies last year. A newspaper reported that 64% of those pregnancies ended in abortions.
