Six Good Reasons Not To Shop on Black Friday
Black Friday Shopping has become a huge tradition for some people. However, I fall into the category of "there is no way I'm getting up before dawn to fight a bunch of people for things." I'm not a Black Friday Fan and here's why.
Reason #1: It's Way Too Early
I've spent many a year getting up at 4am for work and when I finally have a day off, I don't want to get up early. I want to sleep in. I get up to make money, I don't want to get up to spend money.
Reason #2: Standing Out in the Cold Freezing Waiting to Get In
The lines are ridiculous and you're usually standing out in the cold. I don't like being cold so I don't force myself to stay cold for a sale.
Reason #3: Running Out of Product
I stood in line for 3 hours one time for a great Black Friday Deal on a washer and dryer. I got to the front of the line and they were out. I did get a washer and dryer. Just not the one I wanted.
Reason #4: Rude People
People are just rude. Let's face it, people can be vicious when they want something. I'm just not ready to bleed fighting Karen over a TV or the latest toy. I didn't get the Cabbage Patch Kid for Christmas, so I think my child will survive without the latest toy as well. Santa just brought something bigger and better than a Cabbage Patch Kid that year.
Reason #5: Retail Employees Are Verbally Abused
I hate how our retail workers are treated. Most of the time they are treated horribly by customers. It's not the workers fault they ran out of the new PlayStation console, or the latest set of ear buds, but they sure do catch the brunt of everyone's frustration.
Reason #6: Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday
I like to shop online and support local small businesses. It's safe and it's warm and I can get great deals online as well as in store. I'll shop this Saturday for Small Business Saturday at our local small businesses, and from the comfort of my desk on Monday for Cyber Monday.
If you enjoy Black Friday then I'm excited for all the deals your are going to get. However, I'll be warm and snuggly asleep in my bed awaiting Saturday and Monday.
