End of an Era: Amarillo Business Stops Bouncing After 35 Years
Amarillo is at a pivotal moment in its history, where we are witnessing the loss of long-time businesses weekly, if not daily.
Amarillo has lost several local businesses that had been open for over 20 years.
- Malcolm's
- Et Cetera
- Sakura Japanese Steakhouse
And now another long-standing business is closing its doors. This business brought joy, discipline, and work ethic to many children, teens, and adults. It was a place for those who dreamt of becoming a gymnast to learn and train in gymnastics. It was a place where many children celebrated their birthdays with their friends and families, jumping on the trampolines and cannonballing into the foam pit.
Starz Gymnastics
Starz Gymnastics closed its doors after 35 years on July 31, 2024. The economy, the struggle to hire and retain dependable employees, changes to the owner's career priorities, and the business never fully recovered from the pandemic.
It has been a pleasure to serve the Amarillo Community and the Maverick Boys and girls Club for the past 35 years. Starz has served children and adults of all ages these many years. These years have been good times filled with fun, learning, competition and personal growth.
It's a Hard Goodbye
This is a sad closure for Amarillo, especially now that a new generation is seeing our Team USA Gymnastics team compete in the Olympics and bring home medals in the different categories. Our women compete in the floor, vault, uneven bars, and balance beam; and our men, compete in the floor, vault, rings, pommel horse, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.
The business will soon sell office equipment, gym equipment, and trampolines. If you are interested in purchasing the equipment or if you are interested in taking over the business, you can call 806-358-9578.
