Texas Inmates Sew Quilts of Hope for Children in Foster Care
Sometimes adults make bad decisions, and those choices lead to consequences — sometimes even prison. Texas is home to over 100 prisons. While in prison, many of the inmates have an opportunity to turn their lives around and do some good.
That may include learning a new trade so they can find a job when they are finally released. It may include getting their high school diploma or even a college degree. Others use their skills to help others outside of the prison walls.
That is what the women of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice William P. Hobby Unit are doing.
Texas Inmates Sewing Quilts for Foster Children
The inmates have sewn over 40 handmade quilts and 30 handmade pillowcases. These handmade items will go to children within the foster care system. Those participating in The Stitches of Love and Hope Quilting Program carefully pick out fabrics and stitch each design.

These inmates also pray over their creations and the children who will receive them. Many of these inmates participating in the program know what it is like to grow up in the foster care system.
