Five years ago Texas and the rest of the world found themselves in lockdown.  Five years ago, when kids were supposed to be returning to school from spring break, they were told to stay at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Only essential workers were allowed out and about on the streets, the essential workers needed to keep society running while we all sat scared in our homes worried about what might happen and if this weird sickness was going to kill us all.

How Did Life Change During the COVID-19 Pandemic?

Being locked down in our homes changed the world, us, and how we all think, feel, and operate.  Locked down in our homes, we only had the internet, TV, and what surrounded us to entertain us.  Our children were issued computers by their schools to continue their education from a screen.  Most of us were either laid off from work, or worked from home behind a screen doing meetings via Zoom calls.

How Did People Entertain Themselves During the Pandemic?

When we were sitting in our homes, we became obsessed with the craziest things.   They were those things that brought us joy and laughter and an escape from the insanity that was surrounding us.

Looking Back: Top Things Texans Were Obsessed with During Covid

The 5th anniversary of COVID lockdown is here and here are the things we got obsessed with while exiled to our house.

Those were just a few of the things that helped us all keep our sanity in that crazy time.  It is still insane to think people when crazy over toilet paper.  Of all the things to hoard in the world, toilet paper was the thing in 2020.

Those graduating high school in 2020 missed prom and graduation, those graduating this year in 2025 were finishing up 8th grade, and those in 5th grade had just started first grade.  It may be decades until we see the extent of the damage that year did to the education of those kids.

It's strange to look back at that year and the one that followed and how truly scary those moments were, but it is fun to see what got us all passed the insanity of a pandemic.
