The City of Amarillo to Offer Old Tire Drop-Off
If you have old tires laying around and don't know what to do with them, then the City of Amarillo can help you. They are offering a tire drop-off during the month of June.
If you didn't know it is illegal to put used tires in the alleys and other areas in the city. While it creates an eye sore, it also causes a health concern when water collects in old tires. It become stagnant and create a mosquito problem.
The City will set up different containers in different area through out the city to collect old tires.
Every Saturday in June from 8am - 3pm you will be able to drop your tires off at these locations free of charge.
June 4th- Former North Branch YMCA, 1330 NW 18th
June 11th - Recycling Center, 601 S. Western
June 18th - City Transfer station, 811 SE 27th at the 26th and Hayes Service entrance
June 25th - Martin Road Park Parking lot, 1101 Martin Road
The following restrictions apply:
- You cannot leave tires at these site before or after the scheduled date and times
- You cannot bring heavy equipment construction tires
- A 10 tire limit will be implemented per individual/address/vehicle.
- They will not accept wheels or rims
