Amarillo is a big little town, or at least that is what a lot of people say about our city.  However, our city continues to grow and as it grows that means that so does the crime.

When it comes to convenience stores they are the easiest targets for robbery. Criminals pop in and wave a gun and then pop out with an undisclosed amount of money.  It's not just one store, all the convenience stores are targeted at one point in time.

That's what happened to the Toot N Totum located at 8507 I-40 East location.  The Amarillo Police Department was called out on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 2:39 am.   A man came into the store, pointed a gun at the victim, and demanded the money out of the register.  The suspect fled the store once he had money in hand.

The amount of money taken is unknown and the Violent Crimes Unit of the Amarillo Police Department will continue to investigate.

No injuries were reported.

If you have any information on this crime, you are encouraged to call Amarillo Crime Stoppers to make an anonymous tip at 806-374-4400 or online at amapolice.org.

One can speculate that this particular location was chosen because it has easy access to I-40 or even Loop 335.

This isn't the first Armed Robbery that Amarillo has seen this year,

One of the most recent was a convenience store robbery that occurred on May 29th in the 900 Block of Amarillo Blvd.

Back on January 12th, a man robbed the Dollar General at 34th and Georgia, and as police were investigating, a call came in from the Sonic at 1712 Western Street.  It was the same suspect on a robbery spree.

A local Extended Suites was also robbed on February 1, 2023.  Plus, an armed robbery took place in the parking lot of Tyson on March 27, 2023.  The list of this happening goes on and on.

Crime is something that won't be going away any time soon so let's just hope someday we'll see less of it in our great city of Amarillo.
