Tremendous Job by Fritch Native Serving in US Navy
When it comes to the end of a high school career and the students are preparing for the next step of life, some choose college, some choose a trade school and some choose the military.

Once that student enters the military we don't always hear from them or know what it is they are doing. It is always nice to hear about what one of our Texas Panhandle native heroes is doing with their time, and service to our country.
That's exactly what is happening right now. Fritch native, Huter Athey is doing big things in the United States Navy. His official title is Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) Airman.
ABE is the person that works on the catapults, barricades, deflectors, and all the duties that go into the operation of the aircraft launching.
According to the U.S. Navy, Athey is currently assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) air department, which conducts a dynamic-pressure test on the electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS) catapult shuttle on the flight deck in preparation for flight operations, Sept. 16, 2022. Ford is underway in the Atlantic Ocean conducting carrier qualifications and workups for a scheduled deployment this fall.
ABE Athey, thank you for your service to our country. You are making your hometown proud with all the things you are learning and accomplishing as you serve our country and keep us safe.
Thank you to all our Hometown Heroes serving to keep our country safe.
