Higher education in the Texas Panhandle just got another boost. West Texas A&M announced they are extending its application waiver and offering more scholarships through 2021 with help of grants afforded to the school by the CARES act.

The grants can assist students with course materials, food, housing, technology, health and child care.

The fee free enrollment period applies to undergrad and grad programs until July 31st. Executive Director Jeffery Baylor also making a statement via email:

“We began this policy last year as one of our efforts to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Baylor said. “Though we hope we are finally seeing the light at the end of that tunnel, we know that people are still suffering. Continuing to wave this fee is the right thing to do. It’s our way to give back and help families gain access to higher education"

Eligibility is determined by standards set by the Department of Education with guidance set by FASFA eligibility in the 2019-2020 or 2020-21 school years.
