The West Texas Ranch Rodeo Returns to Amarillo in April

There's something about the rodeo. Not just any rodeo, the ranch rodeo. It's a rodeo that shows off the skills of the rancher. The rancher works day and night to take care of cattle and the land on which they roam.

The West Texas Ranch Rodeo

The West Texas Ranch Rodeo is the 3rd WRCA-sanctioned rodeo of the year and has become one of the fastest-growing Ranch Rodeos in the country. The great thing about the West Texas Ranch Rodeo is that it is right here in Amarillo, Texas!!

These teams from ranches from all over the country will be taking part in the festivities including two teams from the 6666 Ranch Dixon Creek and Frisco Creek. Plus the reining champs from the Sooner Ranch will be returning!

The West Texas Ranch Rodeo is a two-day event on Friday, April 26th, and Saturday, April 27th at the Amarillo National Center on the Tri-State Fairgrounds.

The West Texas Ranch Rodeo will include all the ranch rodeo action you love.

Not only will you get to watch all the amazing ranch cowboys compete in these events, but you'll also have the opportunity to watch the youth of these ranches compete. A youth rodeo will also take place during the West Texas Ranch Rodeo, where young participants will compete for the chance to be invited to the WRCA Youth World Championship Ranch Rodeo. The competition for the youth will include various events. The youth rodeo is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th at 1 PM.

MASSIVE: Incredible Photos of the Historic 6666 Ranch

The sprawling 6666 Ranch is one of Texas' crown jewels. Established in 1870, the legendary Samuel Burk Burnett built himself an empire of cattle and Quarter Horses.

You can imagine the shock that rippled across Texas when the historic ranch that is twice the size of Chicago was listed for sale.

And it was certainly double the shock when the news came about that Taylor Sheridan, the director of the smash hit show "Yellowstone" was the winning buyer.

There's much to the story of 6666 Ranch and so little time to tell it, but first: just look at the incredible photos of this sprawling piece of Texan paradise.
