I'll be the first to admit it's not the easiest thing to adapt to a new city.

Moving here from Austin, it was a huge culture shock for sure.

As we started to adapt to the area, I've heard quite a bit of complaining about Amarillo in general...and that comes from the people who live here!

Remember one thing, there will always be something to complain about in the city you live in. Nowhere is perfect. As my family and I have had to attempt to adapt to a different sort of lifestyle, I started to focus on the good things about where we live, not the things we were missing.

As time went on, I started to realize that there are some serious advantages to living in Amarillo. Here's a few I came up with.

AMARILLO SUNRISES AND SUNSETS

I'll be honest. The sunrises and sunsets in the Hill Country out in Austin are phenomenal. I never thought there would be prettier ones, but Amarillo takes the cake. I've never seen such clean, crisp sunrises and sunsets. If you get out into the open spaces of the city, they're even more incredible.

PALO DURO CANYON

Yeah yeah, I know. Low hanging fruit on this one. However, to have the second biggest canyon behind the Grand Canyon, just one of the seven wonders of the world, you can't go wrong. It's a great place to go and just clear your head too if you need it.

AMOUNT OF BIG PARKS

Now this is something we didn't have in Austin, and I can super appreciate it. Having the amount of parks in a small city like this is something I feel gets taken for granted. You can do just about everything at a good sized park, and we have several of them. Pickup football game? You've got expansive space for it. Need to practice some baseball? There's fields everywhere. Time to let the dog run and play frisbee? Have a family reunion? Yup, they're all big enough here. Don't sleep on the parks.

ART

One thing I truly love about Amarillo is the art in the city. It's not just the horse statues, it's everything. You see art outside and inside all over the city. A place that is so proud of it's local artists and supports them, like what they're doing with the parks and art, is a place I can get behind and be proud to call home.

Google Answers the Top 10 Questions About Amarillo

I love Google. It can literally answer ANYTHING you need it to answer. Whether it's right or wrong is a totally different question.

Recently, I found myself wondering about something and went to Google. And that's when I started noticing the "people also asked..." section and BOY...Some of them made perfect sense, some of them were interesting, and one of them was downright baffling...and it was a top 10 question which is even more absurd.

So let's see what we've got. Here's the top 10 questions as asked to Google about Amarillo.
