You Need To Give Blood! Your Blood Can Save Babies!
By donating blood, you are giving the gift of life to another human being.

Although you may never know how your blood donation saved a life, you will know you helped somebody just by giving up an hour of your time and a pint of your blood.
January is National Blood Donor Month and the Coffee Memorial Blood Center needs you. Blood donation is the biggest gift you can give. There are many reasons why people don't give blood, but I would like to give you two reasons why to give blood.
Meet Wyatt and Grady
These little guys entered the world weighing less than three pounds each. Both of these precious babies received three units of O-negative blood. Because people donated blood, these twins were able to live.
Babies aren't the only ones who benefit from blood donations, cancer patients regularly use blood, and this includes pediatric cancer patients. Blood is used in emergencies, and so much more.
If one of your resolutions this year was to help out more, then here's your chance. Not only are you helping out, but you are also saving lives. Only 3 percent of the population donates blood. Many donors who have given religiously all of their lives are aging out of donating, and the younger generations are not replacing those donations.
January is usually a slow month for blood donations because of the holidays, sickness like the flu, and winter weather. Start the year off right and donate. Right now CMBC is needing donors of all types, but especially those donors with type O-negative blood.
O-negative is a universal blood type and can be given to almost anyone in an emergent situation.
Some of the benefits you receive as a successful donor is receiving a mini health screening, and blood pressure and cholesterol level checks. Donors also get goodies that include a t-shirt, snacks, and depending on the month, other great items.
If you are interested in donating blood CMBC needs you today, you can schedule an appointment at thegiftoflife.org or call 877-340-8777. The whole appointment takes about an hour from start to finish. Those aged 16 (under 18 have certain restrictions) and over are eligible to donate. One donation saves up to three lives.
If you're having trouble deciding whether or not to give blood, just remember these cute little faces.
