A person was found in the street.  When APD arrived on the scene the victim was located and identified.  Isaac Shay Morris, male aged 39, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The Amarillo Homicide Unit was called to begin an investigation due to the nature of the victim's injuries.

Amarillo Police released an update on Sunday, August 20th stating that Phou Phiouphanah, a male aged 47 was arrested for murder and booked into the Potter County Jail.

Then on Sunday, August 20th, at 2:07 PM, Amarillo Police were trying to serve a felony parole violation warrant at a local inn located at 6030 I40 W.

The male suspect barricaded himself in the room and would not come out.   The other people in the room were able to make it out safely, however, the suspect would not leave the room.  APD officers tried to negotiate with the man and eventually, the man stopped communicating.  Officers fired a chemical agent into the room in hopes it would make the man come out.  Officers then heard shots fired in the room and the Critical Incident Response Team was called to the scene.  Officers continued to try to contact the man.  CIRT then deployed a robot to the room and it was able to get the window open and send in a drone through the window.  The drone showed that the suspect was deceased in the bathroom from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The deceased suspect was identified as Timothy R. Murray, a 45-year-old male.  The case is still under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division.
