Then on Sunday, August 20th, at 2:07 PM, Amarillo Police were trying to serve a felony parole violation warrant at a local inn located at 6030 I40 W.
The male suspect barricaded himself in the room and would not come out. The other people in the room were able to make it out safely, however, the suspect would not leave the room. APD officers tried to negotiate with the man and eventually, the man stopped communicating. Officers fired a chemical agent into the room in hopes it would make the man come out. Officers then heard shots fired in the room and the Critical Incident Response Team was called to the scene. Officers continued to try to contact the man. CIRT then deployed a robot to the room and it was able to get the window open and send in a drone through the window. The drone showed that the suspect was deceased in the bathroom from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The deceased suspect was identified as Timothy R. Murray, a 45-year-old male. The case is still under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division.
