Juvenile Suspect In Amarillo Double Murder Fled To Arkansas
Amarillo saw over 24 homicides in 2022. One of those homicides that stood out was a double homicide in south Amarillo with a juvenile suspect.
On November 7, 2022, the Amarillo Police Department was called to a home in the Lakeview Mobile Home Park at 7865 Canyon Drive. The bodies of Tyler Knight, 33, and Bethany Mullican, 29 were found. Per an update released to the press from the APD at 7:57 pm on the same day, a juvenile family member was taken into custody.
The juvenile was not taken into custody in Amarillo.
The juvenile had fled to Arkansas, where they had lived for a period of time.
According to an article posted in The Daily Citizen, a newspaper in Searcy, AR. The juvenile suspect was taken into custody by the White County Sheriff's Department and extradited back to Amarillo.
A juvenile suspected of being involved in a double homicide in Texas was arrested in White County on Monday (November 7, 2022) and was set to be extradited to Amarillo on Wednesday morning (November 9, 2022), according to White County Sheriff Phillip Miller.
According to the article, the suspect was taken into custody, and in his possession was a vehicle from one of the deceased. The suspect was also in possession of his father's cell phone and that is how he was located just north of the city of Judsonia, Arkansas. When officers came into contact with the suspect, he resisted arrest and was tased. After, the suspect was in custody and secured they found a loaded .45 pistol in his pocket.
He was held in Jack Jones Juvenile Detention Center in Pine Bluff, AR until he went before the judge and was extradited back to Amarillo.
Since the suspect, in this case, is a juvenile, any further details of his case have not been released. This includes an official indictment.
