Texas and Kentucky are about to collide in a shocking turn of events.

It was recently announced that this popular restaurant born in Kentucky is moving its corporate headquarters to Texas.  Those of us in Texas understand this is a great state to be based, but when your name includes the state it was created, it has gotta hurt when it's moved from its home.

KFC Headquarters is Moving to Texas

Yes, you read that correctly.  The company that owns KFC is Yum! Brands and they have decided to move the corporate headquarters of KFC to Plano, Texas.  The headquarters is currently located in Louisville, Kentucky, but not for much longer.  I'm not sure how Colonel Sanders would feel about this, but he was a businessman.

Yes, KFC will still have its Kentucky roots.  It was literally in the name, Kentucky Fried Chicken.  The company still plans to maintain its brand presence in Louisville, by building a "first-of-its-kind flagship restaurant".

It is possible that Texas will get under their skin and in their blood and they will change the name to TFC.  It's always possible, but not probable.

However, it hasn't been Kentucky Fried Chicken since 1991. The company changed its name due to copyright issues with the state of Kentucky.   Most people will tell you the name change was due to having the word "fried" in the title because fried isn't exactly healthy.  But, c'mon those 11 herbs and spices are worth the calories.

Yum! Brands is Moving Two Company Headquarters to Texas

KFC isn't the only company headquarters moving to the Lone Star State.  Yum! Brands also own Pizza Hut and plan to move those headquarters to Plano, Texas.   It'll be a curious change for these two companies.  Let's see how Texas's influence will seep into these brands.  Those employed at the current headquarters will have the option to relocate to Texas and continue with their employment.

The relocation of approximately 100 KFC U.S. corporate roles will occur over the next six months, while the relocation of 90 remote positions will take place over the next 18 months. Throughout the process, employees will receive relocation and transition support.

Yum! Brands also owns Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill but those headquarters will remain in California.

It's time to show that big Texas welcome to KFC and Pizza Hut!
